Forum Suggestions

Well here is my list of suggestions for this forum to help it grow:


1. Introduction- introductions should have its own board so that every user can make their own thread and does not have to look through posts unrelated to his introduction.
2. Spam board- this is obvious.. people like to spam and having separate board helps divert spam from other boards.
3. Media board (music, movies etc..)
4. Suggestions board... i know some people cannot listen to advices, but trust me when i say that having a separate board for this helps a lot... having a board for it doesnt mean you have to follow every suggestion to the point
5. Hompage and forums should be linked- that means, that when you click the banner it should lead you to homepage, but when you click on forums link on homepage it will take you directly to them without having to click through something else... this keeps the site look more solid
6. Roster- you should have like roster of forum staff etc..
also things like top posters and other stats are always kewl addition
7. Shoutbox- if you manage to link homepage and forums you should add a shoutbox- that is a public chat for members right on the page... just a small window

That is all I could think of atm... i will let you know if I can think of more stuff... these all go from my personal experience of forum admin

Yes, the forums still have a long way to go yet. I am currently planning an overhaul of the categories and such, so expect to see that fairly soon.

3.No need for a sparse sub section, that can go under off topic under a major thread.

2- this isnt usually used for spamming like promoting fridges but for stuff like random nyan cat videos, forum games like post counting or longest quote (examples from my clans forums: 50 facts about women, whats the longest word you know, funny pics, WTF BOOM, create your own weapon, what are you...etc)
this is basically a board for fun stuff that does not really have category on the rest of the forum

5.-sometimes on hompage the most important topics can be pointed to like rules/updates which makes it easier for people to find because many dont even look into the updates boards usually

6.- when new user joins a forum he might maybe want to clear up some stuff with the admins first before posting, i know i used to do it when i was new to forums and it always irritated me that i had to search through topics to find a post by a moderator or other staff members just to find who to message

7.- its just chat, it is supposed to be for quick messaging... it doesnt really get abused from my experience... we usually get spams into various forum boards so that its harder to find, takes longer to delete all of them and and therefore higher chance of someone seeing it... we had a case in my clan when someone wanted to get us in trouble so he posted like 5 threads on 5 boards of pictures of child porn... sooo we emailed the police in his state by his ip and they replyed that his internet has been cut off and that they are investigating the issue further... anyways i didnt see the shoutbox abused much

2. That's basically what the Killing Time forum is for. Though I guess I should change the name because this has been mentioned before that we don't have an "Off Topic" section. Hmm.

5. Are you talking about linking specific threads to the home page?

6. Actually, if you look immediately under the banner at the top, you will see Usergroups there. There you can view a moderator list.

5. yeah something like that... maybe like when you want to announce something all you do is write in red a short sentence and put a link there to the forums
example: The Skyrim Giveaway is over. Find out if you won here.
6. if you click usergroups as a regular member it shows you a window where you can apply to become a moderator... some people could be scared by that and not click the link
